How AI is changing everyday life

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the way people live, work, and communicate across the world. From smartphones to online shopping, AI technologies are becoming an essential part of everyday life. Many people now interact with AI without even realizing it. Virtual assistants such as Google Assistant help users perform tasks like setting reminders, checking the weather, or searching for information using voice commands. Navigation has also improved with the help of AI-powered apps like Google Maps, which analyze traffic conditions and recommend faster routes to drivers. This has made travelling more efficient and less stressful for many commuters. Social media platforms are also using AI to personalize content. Applications such as TikTok use intelligent algorithms to suggest videos based on users’ interests and viewing habits. In the entertainment industry, streaming services like Netflix rely on AI technology to recommend movies and television shows that match ...

Is Social Media Helping or Destroying Communication?

Social media has transformed communication in modern society. Platforms such as messaging apps and social networking sites allow people to communicate instantly regardless of distance. Friends, families, and colleagues can share messages, photos, videos, and ideas within seconds. Social media has also created opportunities for learning, networking, and spreading information quickly across the world. However, despite these advantages, social media can also negatively affect communication. Many people now rely heavily on texting and online interactions instead of face-to-face conversations. This can reduce personal connections and sometimes lead to misunderstandings because emotions and tone are not always clear in written messages. In some cases, excessive use of social media can even reduce meaningful communication among friends and family. Therefore, while social media has improved connectivity, people must use it responsibly and maintain real-life interactions to build stronger relat...

Balancing Studies, Friends, and Personal Life

University life presents students with many responsibilities that must be managed at the same time. Students attend lectures, complete assignments, study for exams, and sometimes participate in extracurricular activities. At the same time, they want to spend time with friends, join social events, and take care of their personal well-being. When these responsibilities are not balanced properly, students may experience stress, fatigue, and a feeling of being overwhelmed. Time management is one of the most important skills students must develop to maintain balance in their lives. Planning a daily or weekly schedule can help students allocate time for studying, socializing, and resting. Avoiding procrastination and setting clear priorities allows students to focus on important tasks without feeling rushed. When students organize their time effectively, they are able to meet academic expectations while still enjoying their social lives. Friendships are also an important part of the uni...

The Secret Life of a University Student

To many people, university students appear to live simple lives filled with classes, lectures, and studying. However, behind the scenes, many students juggle multiple responsibilities. Some wake up early for lectures, work part-time jobs during the day, and stay up late completing assignments. Others quietly struggle with financial challenges, homesickness, or the pressure to perform well academically. Despite these challenges, university life also teaches students independence, resilience, and time management. They learn how to balance responsibilities, build friendships, and discover their passions. The “secret life” of a university student is therefore a mixture of struggle, growth, and determination as they work toward building their future.

The Pressure of Success Among Young People

Image
Many young people today feel intense pressure to succeed in life. Society often defines success through good grades, high-paying jobs, and material wealth. From a young age, students are told to work hard so they can achieve a “successful future.” This constant expectation can create stress and fear of failure, especially when young people feel they must meet the standards set by their families, teachers, or society. As a result, some young people struggle with anxiety and self-doubt when they feel they are not achieving enough. Social media can also increase this pressure because people often compare their lives to the success stories they see online. It is important for young people to understand that success is different for everyone and that personal growth, happiness, and well-being are also important measures of a meaningful life.

The Importance of Mental Health Among Students

Image
University life can be exciting, but many students face mental health challenges due to academic pressure, financial difficulties, and social expectations. Assignments, exams, and deadlines often create stress and anxiety, while financial struggles such as paying fees or daily expenses can add emotional strain. In addition, constant comparison on social media may cause students to feel inadequate or lonely. Mental health is as important as physical health, and students need support to maintain their well-being. Talking to friends, getting enough rest, exercising, and seeking professional help can help students manage stress. Universities can also support students by providing counseling services and mental health awareness programs to create a supportive environment for learning and personal growth. .

Flood Havoc in Nairobi as New Sports Ground Wiped Out by Raging Waters

Image
The newly built Kinyago Sports Ground in Kamukunji didn’t stand a chance against the recent floods that overwhelmed Nairobi. Heavy rains that pounded the city turned low‑lying areas into fast‑moving torrents, sweeping away fields, facilities and local landmarks across Kamukunji. What was once a place for children and youth to play and train was washed out by floodwaters that have battered parts of the capital. These floods hit hard because the ground was already soaked from days of sustained rain, and drainage systems couldn’t keep up with the deluge. Local residents watched helplessly as water surged through neighborhoods, closing roads and forcing families to evacuate. Kamukunji, like many Nairobi suburbs, has seen rivers and stormwater channels overflow after downpours.  The once‑proud community spaces like the Kinyago Sports Ground are now part of the long list of infrastructure damaged by climate‑linked flooding.
